Congratulations on your engagement! It is possibly your first time visiting a Bridal Boutique to view and choose your Wedding Gown, so what should you know? Well, we helped almost 400 Brides find their perfect gowns last year and would be delighted to help you find your ‘Forever Gown’ too…
Q. How far in advance should I visit a bridal boutique?
A: Ideally, we advise to start looking no later than 12 months in advance to allow yourself time to view and take your time making a decision. We recommend that you choose your gown ASAP. You can never be too early but you can be too late. In addition to your Gown lead-time you have to allow up to 2 months for any final alterations you may require so it fits perfectly to your body on your special day.
Q. Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns?
A: This is to ensure that we can give you a one to one consultation with one of our stylists in our Boutique as well as offer you advice as requested.
Q. How long is my appointment?
A: All Appointments last for 1hr. During that time you will get to view the collection and to try on the selection of the dresses that you like as well as have the consultant make some suggestions. We will work to help you leave Cinderella’s Closet delighted, having bought your perfect wedding gown.
Q: Is there any preparation I can do in advance to make my consultation as successful as possible?
A: Yes there certainly is! You should look at our Gallery of dresses and study the styles, shapes, necklines, fabrics and see what you like and don’t like. Also if you wish to take note of, or take a screen shot of, any of our dresses that you specifically wish to try on, this can also be very helpful to get the most of our your appointment and help you find the perfect dress on the day!
Q. What should I bring to my appointment?
A: The most important thing to bring is an ‘Open Mind’. If you have photo’s of dress styles that you like, by all means bring them. We also recommend that you only bring one or two people who’s opinion’s you trust to your appointment and then if you wish to bring a larger group to ‘The Reveal’ at a later date which is easier once you have chosen your gown. We ask that you don’t put on tanning products as they will damage the dresses for others and if you wish to bring shoes of a height you feel you will wear (but don’t worry, we do have pairs for trying on), also support under-garments to help you feel your best, then bring those also, including a strapless white or nude colour bra.
Q. What size gowns are available for me to try on?
A: We typically have one to two dress design samples in stock for trying on, but we have a selection of sizes from UK Size 8 – 30, but don’t be concerned as we have ways to make most sizes ‘fit’ you enough so that you have a good indication of whether a dress design suits you or not. We also have a plus-size designer’s collection for trying on.
Q. Do you allow photographs to be taken?
A: Unfortunately, for propriety reasons, our designers do not allow photo’s and we strictly abide by their policy and do not allow mobile phone out of handbags in the rooms.
Q. Can I complete my entire look in one appointment?
A: Absolutely! Not only do our brides find their dress on their first visit to our Boutique, but they also find all their accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewellery etc) on their visit and you will not find a better selection than at Cinderella’s Closet.
Q. How far in advance do I need to buy my gown?
A: In our professional opinion it is never too early to buy your gown, only too late. The only way to ensure a gown you love is available is by having a deposit on it. Then if a fabric or a gown becomes unavailable, once you have a deposit on it, the order will be honoured. A typical order time of a gown is 6 months, but you need to allow time for alterations also which could take another two months.
Q. I don’t have that much time, can a gown be bought in a shorter lead-time?
A: Yes, There is a ‘Rush-Order’ facility available from most of our designers, depending on how short your lead-time is and the time of the year. This will has a cost associated with it if your time is very short. Also we have a stock of ‘Sample Gowns’ that can be bought off the rack. This is an excellent option if you are constrained by time or price. Some of these gowns are up to 70% off.
Q. Is there a charge for my appointment?
A: No, but we do have a holding fee of €20 that we take by card when making your appointment which will be fully refunded to you when you arrive for your consultation or if you cancel within 48 hours . This gives you a one-hour, one-to-one consultation with a trained stylist who will work with you, understanding your taste, body shape, budget, timeline and any requests to help you find the perfect gown for your perfect day from our exclusive and world renowned designed gowns that we have bought to have available here for you to try on.
Q. What is your cancellation policy for appointments?
A: If you cancel your appointment outside 48hrs, we will refund you the full €20 to your card.
Q. How Do I Pay For My Gown?
A: We accept Visa & Laser Card as well as cash and personal cheques. (Personal cheques are only accepted for deposit, not final payment)
To confirm your order, a €200 is all that is required but to confirm your order with the designer, we require a 50% deposit. When the gown arrives at Cinderella’s Closet and passes our quality control check, we will contact you to let you know and to schedule a viewing and collection. At that point, we require payment of the remaining 50% balance. Also note, we can arrange a payment plan with you if you wish to spread out your cost, if the time allows. When a gown arrives, we will hold it for up to two weeks.
Q. What Are Your Price Ranges Of Gowns?
A: All our gowns are available to special order in your size and they range in price from about €1,000 – €3,000, with most styles priced between €1,500-€2,500. Most of our gowns are available in White or Ivory and some designs may be ordered in other colours also. We also have Sample Gowns at a reduced cost available to buy and our Sample Sales held once a year, usually in January.
Q. Will the dress be made to my exact measurements?
A: No, dresses are made to standard size from a UK Size 4 to UK Size 30 and alterations may be required once it arrives to fit your body perfectly. Large weight fluctuations from ordering to receiving of the dress may result in larger alterations costs.
Q. Do you do the alterations in the shop?
A: No, but if you don’t have a seamstress known to you, we will recommend a highly qualified one. All transactions for alterations are done directly with your seamstress.
Q. How do I tie up my train after photographs?
A: Again this will be done in consultation with your seamstress as this cannot be done until the length of your gown is perfect with your Bridal Shoes. At that stage, in consultation with your seamstress you can decide what kind of bustle you require.
