It is such an exciting family time when there is a First Holy Communion in the house. This is possibly your first time shopping for a First Holy Communion Dress and we are sure you have lots of questions. We have been helping little girls say ‘Yes To The Dress’ for many years now and we are hoping we get to help you too. Below we have put together some FAQ’s to help you.
Q: How far in advance should we book our appointment?
A: Our appointments are starting on the 5th October 2019 to view our Communion collection 2020 and we are now taking appointments. This is when families start planning for the following year. Weekend appointments are booking out fast. We also schedule after school appointments and have late mid week appointments available. We also open for the week of the Mid-Term in October 29th October-1st November 2019. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Q:Why do we need to make an appointment to try on Communion dresses?
A: The benefit of making an appointment is that you get a private consultation room with your own stylist and usually, if we do not have the dress you love in your size, we can order it to arrive in time for your special day. This increases the quantity of dresses you can choose from. We also have a strict one-dress-per-school policy, so the earlier you choose, the more choice you have.
Q:How long is our appointment?
A: Appointments last for 1 hr. During that time you will get to view the collection and to try on the selection of the dresses that you like as well as have the consultant make some suggestions. We will work to help you leave Cinderella’s Closet delighted, having bought the perfect dress!
Q: Is there any preparation I can do in advance to make the consultation as successful as possible?
A: Yes there certainly is! You, with your daughter, should look at our Gallery of dresses and study the styles, shapes, necklines, lengths, fabrics and see what you like and don’t like. Also if you wish to take note of, or take a screen shot of, any of our dresses that you specifically wish to try on, this can also be very helpful to get the most of our your appointment and help you find the perfect dress on the day!
Q:What should I bring to my appointment?
A: The most important thing to bring is an ‘Open Mind’. If you have photos of dress styles that you like, by all means bring them. Remember this dress needs to be agreed and loved by both you and your daughter, so there often needs to be some compromise….. We also recommend not bringing too many people to the appointment as a lot of opinions in the room can make it more difficult to choose and can become overwhelming for you both. Trust your taste and your knowledge on what suits your daughter. However, we do not limit how many you bring with you and welcome everyone.
Important Tip: If your daughter is wearing white ankle socks and a white string vest, this will help you view the dresses on her much easier. Also if you have an idea on whether her hair will be worn up or down on her Communion day, then maybe style her hair similar to that on the day. These are just suggestions to make it easier to choose.
Q: What size gowns are available for my daughter to try on?
A: We typically have every size here on the day but not every size in every dress style. We will work with you to help you choose the right designers for your daughter and depending on when the order is placed, we may be able to order in a dress in her size if we do not have one available.
Q:Can I complete my entire look in one appointment?
A: Absolutely! Not only do our little Princesses find their dress on their visit to our Boutique, but they also find all their accessories (veils, headpieces/tiara, gloves, bags etc) on their visit.
Q:What is your cancellation policy for appointments?
A: As appointments are very valuable, we would always ask that you cancel appointments with as much notice as possible, so we can give the opportunity to another family on our waiting list. We would really appreciate your support on this.
Q:How do I pay for my Princesses Gown?
A: We accept Visa & Laser Card as well as cash and personal cheques. (Personal cheques are only accepted for deposit, not final payment)
To confirm your order, we require a 50% deposit. When the gown arrives at Cinderella’s Closet and passes our quality control check, we will contact you to let you know and to schedule a viewing and collection. At that point, we require payment of the remaining 50% balance. Also note, we can arrange a payment plan with you for the second 50%, if you wish to spread out your cost. When a gown arrives, we will hold it for up to two weeks.
Q:What Are Your Price Ranges Of Your First Holy Communion Dresses?
A: Our dresses vary in price. Generally dresses are priced between €250-€550 with most styles between €270-€350.
Q:Will the dress be made to my daughters exact measurements?
A: No, dresses are made to standard size by age and minor alterations may be required once it arrives to fit your daughter’s body perfectly. Large weight fluctuations from ordering to receiving of the dress may result in larger alterations costs.
Q:Do you do the alterations in the shop?
A: No, but if you don’t have a seamstress known to you, we will recommend a highly qualified one. All transactions for alterations are done directly with your seamstress. The final tailoring of a dress can make all the difference on how it looks and feel on the day.
Q:What happens when we collect the dress, will we need to make an appointment and do we get to try it on?
A: Yes, when we call you to say your dress has arrived we will arrange an appointment with you so that you get the opportunity to try on your daughters dress and ensure that you are both happy before you leave. This appointment is 30 mins approximately .
Q:How do I make an appointment?

Please note that the 2020 communion collection will not be available to view on our website till end September 2019.
